Like the rally on Sunday (the highest political moment of the three days of the Festa do Avante), Avante’s opening speech usually features the speech of the party’s secretary general. Always in an improvised space, but this year the Covid-19 contingencies do not leave room for improvisation and the solution found was another: Jerónimo de Sousa will not be physically present at Quinta da Atalaia at the time of the official opening of the party, but everyone will be able to listen to it at the venue and follow the video message through the party’s social networks on the Internet.
The militants already distrust the change, having published the information in this Thursday’s edition of the official party newspaper and this is just one of the changes to add to this version in the Covid-19 era of the Party that this year has its 44th edition.
