A man was arrested after he allegedly placed razor blades in pizza dough that was later sold to customers, reports the Saco police department in the state of Maine in the United States of America.

Local police were notified on October 6 when a local supermarket suspected the incident. A customer is said to have purchased Portland Pizza Pie Dough and found multiple razor blades inside the product, according to the Saco police statement.

The supermarket immediately launched an internal investigation and analyzed all images from the space surveillance system, where it was discovered that the suspect, Nicholas R. Mitchell, had tampered with several boxes of this product.

The suspect was eventually arrested shortly thereafter, but the case is still under investigation as police have not yet been able to determine the motivations that led to this case.

So far no injuries have been reported in relation to this fact, but local authorities and the supermarket chain in question have already issued a statement asking people not to consume this product if it was purchased between August 1, October 11 of this year.
