Yesterday, the Regional Authority for Economic Activities (ARAE) and the Public Security Police prevented the meat from reaching the consumer without being duly authorized for its sale and marketing. The full story can be read in our print edition this Saturday.
The meat was intended for sale by individuals or to house small groups in private homes. It was mainly beef that was sold in garages and in private spaces in the West, mainly in the parish of Canhas, in Ponta de Sol, which later made the traditional pinchos with bolo do caco and wine.
The operation began early in the morning, with the action of the PSP in the municipalities of Ponta do Sol and Calheta, checking locations where, supposedly, individuals intended to sell meat in spaces without the minimum hygienic conditions at the time of exposing the product.
With this operation in the West, ARAE yesterday concluded an inspection in all the municipalities of RAM, having already reached more than 200 administrative infractions in commercial establishments throughout the island of Madeira.
