The Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, stressed today the need for the Government to “seek the greatest possible consensus” to implement more restrictive measures that “it must even take” against covid-19, because “all efforts are few.
Through the social network Twitter, the prime minister shared images of the round of hearings with the parties, which began on Friday and ended today.
“We concluded, this Saturday morning, the round of hearings of all political parties with parliamentary seats. The figures are worrying and there are few efforts to control the pandemic ”, underlines António Costa.
The head of Government also pointed out the importance of “seeking the greatest possible consensus for the most restrictive measures” that the Government has to take, based on scientific knowledge.
“That is why we will also listen to the position of public health specialists and epidemiologists,” added António Costa.

Another meeting with epidemiologists is scheduled for Tuesday at Infarmed, in Lisbon, to assess the evolution of the covid-19 pandemic in Portugal.
At the end of the hearings with the Government, the parties indicated that a closure similar to the one that was enacted at the beginning of the pandemic could be on the table. The schools will continue to function.
