“It was no coincidence that we chose 1:00 pm, because we precisely have in mind what all epidemiological surveys tell us: 68% of the transmissions are taking place at this time in moments of family and social interaction,” justified Costa.

The Prime Minister refused on Wednesday to pass the curfew from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. the next two weekends, a suggestion that came from the Restoration sector so as not to be so harmed, after having been in a meeting with the leader of the Confederation Union of Trade Unions (CES), Luca Visentini, in São Bento. António Costa affirms that it is necessary to avoid gatherings at lunchtime, hence the decision to limit circulation from 1:00 p.m. in the municipalities most affected by the new coronavirus.

“It was not by chance that we chose 1:00 p.m., because we precisely have in mind what all epidemiological surveys tell us: 68% of the transmissions are being carried out at this time in moments of family and social interaction,” justified Costa, highlighting that restaurants continue to operate with home delivery.

The prime minister says he knows that the measures that will be applied during the weekend to prevent the spread of covid-19 will particularly affect restaurants. “People can postpone the purchase of a shirt or pants, but a meal is not postponed,” he said, reiterating that the Government is preparing a set of support measures especially for the Catering sector, as already “These measures will be announced today or Thursday ”, announced this Monday, during an interview with TVI, the Minister of State and Economy, Pedro Siza Vieira, added Costa.
