In Braga, during a street party integrated into the pre-election campaign, André Ventura, who is also the leader of Chega, also said he hoped the decision to raise wages would be reversed.

Government defends that TAP administration costs have been reduced by 33% since March
“It is an insult to all Portuguese, it is an insult to those who struggle to stay on the surface, it is an insult to the employees of TAP,” he said.

The newspaper Eco reported on Monday that three members of TAP’s management saw their salaries increased, with the approval of the Government, including the executive president and the president of the Board of Directors.
For André Ventura, the salary increase is “shameful”, taking into account the “moment in which so many cuts are being prepared in TAP” and the carrier appears “in a kind of pre-bankruptcy”.
“It is the greatest hypocrisy of the Government, to present a plan for cuts in TAP, but the top executives are increased and the others are looking at boats and some are fired,” Ventura added.
The presidential candidate supported by Chega said that he hoped that the decision to increase would be reversed, considering inadmissible that “four, five or ten” live “princely”, with salaries of “25 thousand euros”, paid “by all the Portuguese.”
“You have to save TAP but it is not to pay millionaire salaries that TAP will be saved,” he concluded.
Today, Miguel Frasquilho announced that he has abdicated the salary increase he enjoyed since Humberto Pedrosa left, because he wants to continue being part of the negotiations on the future of the company.
In a note sent to the media, Frasquilho said that the same remuneration conditions as his predecessor, Humberto Pedrosa, who resigned as director of the TAP Group, transferred him, “due to the presidencies and increased responsibilities” that he assumed.
“There was, therefore, no cost increase for TAP for having assumed these functions,” said Miguel Frasquilho.
TAP’s restructuring plan, delivered in Brussels this month, provides for the suspension of the corporate agreements, a measure without which, according to the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos, it would not be possible to restructure TAP.
The document delivered to the European Commission provides for the dismissal of 500 pilots, 750 cabin crew, 450 maintenance and engineering workers and 250 from the rest of the areas.
The plan also foresees a 25% reduction in the group’s payroll (30% in the case of legal entities) and the number of aircraft that make up the company’s fleet, from 108 to 88 commercial aircraft.
