Portugal registers, this Thursday, 6,994 more infected by covid-19, a new daily maximum of cases, on the day in which it adds 69 more deaths to the list of victims, which now stands at 3,701. North also breaks a record.

After being close to six thousand cases a day on Wednesday, Portugal today registered 6,994 cases of covid-19, raising the total number of infections to 243,009, according to the epidemiological bulletin on Thursday. Today’s value is the highest since the beginning of the pandemic. It is recalled that the bulletin of November 4 presented 7497 new cases, but the number at that time was explained by a “delay in the laboratory report”, corresponding to an accumulation of positive tests from previous days.

Looking at the regions in isolation, the North, now with 4,415 more infections (63% of today’s total), also has the worst record since March, up from 4154 cases last Saturday, bringing the total number of cases in the region to 124,572. The Lisbon and Tagus Valley region has more than 1542 cases (in 84,800), the Center more than 724 (in 22,921) Alentejo more than 145 (4825) and the Algarve more than 102 (4459). In the Azores archipelago, there are more than 40 infected (a total of 684) and Madeira has more than 26 (748).

Four victims were under 59 years old

As has become the rule, the vast majority of victims (43) were 80 years of age or older: 25 men and 18 women. At age 70 to 79, 16 people died (10 men and six women), at 60 to 69 years six people died (two men and four women), two men in the 50 to 59 age group and two others in the group from 40 to 49 years old. . In the age group 30 to 39 years, a man also died.

The number of patients admitted to the ward falls to 3,017 (34 less than yesterday), but in the intensive care units it continues to increase: there are 458 patients (26 more). On the other hand, there are 157,924 recovered, 4222 more than the previous report. Calculations made, subtracting the number of deaths and recoveries from the total number of infected, there are now 81,384 active patients, 2703 more than yesterday.
