Algarve with the most daily deaths, but with fewer new cases

The Algarve today has 11 more deaths, the largest daily increase in fatalities ever recorded in the region (+4 than yesterday), and 70 new cases of Covid-19 (minus 39), according to data from the epidemiological bulletin this Saturday. On February 13, released by the General Directorate of Health (DGS). Hospitalizations plummet, including those in intensive care.

The figures coming from hospitals are encouraging, as there are fewer than 380 internees, which has reduced the number of people in the Covid-19 wards to less than 5,000 (4859). Also in intensive care, there was a clear decrease, from 43 fewer patients, to 803.

At the national level, both in new cases and in deaths, the situation is similar to yesterday.

Today, the DGS reported 2,856 new cases, just two more than yesterday. As for the deaths, they were 149, the same figure registered yesterday.

Active cases also continue to fall and are now 107,371, 6079 less than in Friday’s bulletin.

This means that the number of people recovered, which was 8,786 today, continues to exceed that of new cases.

By region, Lisbon and the Tagus Valley are once again the ones with the most new cases, 1,440, followed by the North (677), Center (490), Alentejo (113), Algarve (70), Madeira (61) and Azores ( 5).

Today there are 143,173 surveillance contacts (minus 6,478).
