Algarve with another death and 199 cases

There is one more fatality and 199 new cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, according to data from the bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) of this Friday, January 1, the first day of 2021.

The Algarve region enters the new year with 7,897 cases and 72 deaths, in cumulative figures since the beginning of the pandemic.

In Alentejo, there are more than 308 confirmed cases (11,431 in total) and three new deaths from Covid-19 (221 since March).

In the country, there is again a high number of new cases, more than 6951. In the accumulated total, the disease has already been diagnosed in 420,629 people.

As for those recovered, there were more 4392, which brings the total of people who have already cured the disease to 338,668.

Active cases increased again and are now 74,989 (plus 2,493).

In terms of deaths, there were 66 more, compared to yesterday’s bulletin (6,972 since the start of the pandemic). In addition to the deaths in the Algarve and Alentejo, there were victims in the north (28), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (23), in the center (10) and in Madeira (1).

In the country’s hospitals, there are now fewer than 34 people hospitalized (2806 in total). In Intensive Care, there are 483 people (plus 1).

By region, the North is once again the one with the highest daily increase in cases (212,709, plus 2,745), followed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (135,870, plus 2,131), Center (49,195, plus 1,474), Alentejo (11,431 , plus 308), Algarve (7,897, plus 199), Azores (1885, plus 53) and Madeira (1642, plus 41).

Today there are 91,527 surveillance contacts (plus 2,993).
