Algarve with 2 more deaths in a day when active cases in the country plummet

The Algarve today registers two more deaths and 48 new ones infected by Covid-19, on a day in which the number of active cases decreased by 5,606, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) this Tuesday. December 1, which has just been released.

In today’s report, from a national perspective, two encouraging numbers emerge. The number of people who have recovered from the disease, 7,935, rises to 220,877 those who have already won the Covid-19, in Portugal.

On the other hand, only 2,401 new cases throughout the country, well below the average daily increase in infected people in recent weeks, although this figure was enough for the country to overcome the barrier of 300,000 accumulated cases, more precisely 300,436, since the start of the pandemic . .

Thus, there are now less than 5,606 active cases (75,008, in cumulative total).

In the Algarve, in addition to the two fatalities, which increase the accumulated total in the region to 51, according to DGS, there are another 48 infected with the new coronavirus, which has increased the total since the start of the pandemic to 5,351.

In Alentejo, there were three more deaths (119, accumulated in total) and 129 new cases (6287, since March).

Another indicator that showed a positive evolution was that of hospitalizations. The number of people admitted to hospitals in the country decreased to 3,275 (less 67), of which 521 are in intensive care (less 4).

Regarding deaths, there were 72 people in mourning across the country, meaning that Covid-19 has so far caused a total of 4,577 deaths. In addition to the two in the Algarve and the three in Alentejo, there were deaths in the North (43), in the Center (13) and in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (11).

By region, the North continues to be the region with the highest daily increase, although with figures far removed from those of recent times: more than 1,300 cases, bringing the accumulated total to 157,785.

Lisbon and Tagus Valley (99,061, plus 538), Centro (30,025, plus 349), Alentejo (6287, plus 129), Algarve (5351, plus 48), Azores (1039, plus 17) and Madeira (914, plus 20 ).

Today there are 79,963 surveillance contacts nationwide (minus 1,514).
