The mayor of Guimarães, Domingos Bragança, determined this Sunday the temporary suspension of the shows scheduled for all the cultural facilities of the municipality, the mayor said in a statement.

The directive will remain in force “until the Municipal Civil Protection, in which the health and safety authorities have a seat, after having listened to the entities that manage the municipal teams that host shows, conclude the measures to be taken,” said Domingos Bragança .

The position was taken “in front of news and images” about a show of live comedy how blogger Ana García Martins (also known as A Pipoca Mais Doce) and the comedians Nilton and Hugo Sousa, held in Multiusos de Guimarães, who suggested despite the health safety rules associated with Covid-19.

Then, on Saturday night, Ana García Martins shared some images of the show on her Instagram account, thanking the audience present in Guimarães, the critics did not wait – “Incredible the irresponsibility of the organization and whose I went to watch ”; “How ugly. What great social irresponsibility. Those who allow, those who do and those who help. A father cannot attend the birth of a child, and this clown is allowed …”.

This Sunday, blogger made a new post on the same social network, with six new photographs, showing the ordered entrance lines to the Multiusos de Guimarães, the alcohol gel dispensers and the alignment of the available chairs – one yes, the other no. Ensuring that the event was authorized by all competent entities, including the General Directorate of Health and the Municipality of Guimarães, he tried to devalue the controversy and put an end to the matter.

As it seems obvious, neither I nor my colleagues work in hiding or act illegally. If we agreed to participate in this show it was because we trust that all the security measures imposed by the DGS and by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers do not. 70-A / 2020 would be implemented. And they were, ”he wrote in an indignant tone.

As much as it guarantees that this was the case, and that it explains that the room has a capacity for 2,466 seats, with 964 seats being occupied, equivalent to 40% of the capacity, for which the contingency plan approved by the health authorities, Domingos Bragança decided to suspend in any case all the events foreseen in the cultural agenda of the municipality.

“The epidemiological situation that currently exists in the municipality requires the adoption of more restrictive norms than those currently prescribed in the legal framework applicable to these situations,” the mayor told Lusa.

The municipality of Guimarães, in the Braga district, registers 1,417 confirmed cases of Covid-19 infection, according to data from the General Health Directorate reported on Saturday.
