Since August, the number of active Covid-19 cases has not decreased, and not as many people have recovered since May.. This Tuesday, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS), 1,932 people recovered from the infection in 24 hours, a figure higher than the confirmed cases: 1,876. According to the data available on the DGS website, since May 24, there has been no such increase in recovery cases – that day, 9,844 people recovered from Covid-19.

As for the active cases -people who today had an active infection- this Tuesday they registered less 71 cases, making a total of 39,625 active cases. Since the DGS began publishing this information in the daily bulletin on August 17, the number of cases has not decreased. According to official DGS data, on August 15 there were 16 fewer people with active infection, and on August 8 there were 86 less active cases of infection.

In the last 24 hours, in addition to the 1,876 new cases, recorded 15 deaths, minus two deaths than Monday. The number of new infections has also dropped: There were 73 fewer confirmed cases (1,949 new cases on Monday). Portugal account 103,736 confirmed cases of infection and 2,213 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
