Active cases fall in Braga in the last 24 hours, but there are two more deaths

Bragacine, the first independent film festival in Portugal, celebrates its 18th edition this Thursday and Friday, with the presentation of 17 films and short films, three books, four tributes and an evocation of Sean Connery.

The rector of 7 ° Arte / Cine.UM – Cineclub of the University of Minho, Artur Moreira, revealed, in a statement, that the program is free and online, at www.bragacineindependente.com, except for the opening and closing sessions, which take place respectively at Livraria 100ª Página and Cineplace Nova Arcada, in Braga.

The organization is supported by the Lux Film Prize of the European Parliament, among others.

The initiative starts on Thursday, at 5:00 p.m., by the classic policeman “The untouchables”, with the late British actor Sean Connery, who will be remembered at 24:00 in “Dr. No ”, the first film in the 007 series – James Bond.

Earlier, at 7:00 pm, the official opening includes the presentation of three books: “Federico Fellini – Inevitabilidade da Arte”, by Anabela Branco de Oliveira, professor at UTAD; “Viagens pelo Éter – Um Cinema Poster 2008”, by António Costa Valente, director of the Avanca Festival; and “NATO – International cooperation and the fight against terrorism”, by Artur Barros Moreira, director of Bragacine.

It is followed by the exhibition of “short films” by Luís Miranda and Carlos Coelho Costa, from the war film “Jouney’s End”, by Saul Dibb, and, in its absolute debut, “Um Quadro de Pollock com Sangue”, by Rui António.

Short

On Friday, at 3:00 p.m., short films will be screened in competition by the Filmógrafo / Avanca and Soares dos Reis schools (including the premiere of “Boca do Inferno”, by Laura Seixas, and “Capacete”, by Gustavo dos Santos), as well as the new fiction by Passos Zamith, “Chaço 92”.

At 16:30 it is the turn of the Austro-German drama “Toni Erdmann”, by Maren Ade. The official closing time is at 7:00 p.m., with the Augusta Awards for the best works by Bragacine and a tribute to the actresses Sofia Froes, Maria João Monteiro and Lúcia Moniz, the director Carlos Coelho Costa, the screenwriter Valter Hugo Mãe and the director of photography Francisco Vidinha.

There is also praise for the hug in “Confinamento Discontente”, by Rui Nunes; the biography of the slave heroine “Harriet” by Kasi Lemmons; and the award-winning animation “My Life by Courgette”, by Claude Barras.

At 10:30 pm there are moments of suspense, with “Deathcember” and “Daddy’s Girl”, both by the British Julian Richards, followed by the 24:00 screening of the best film and “short film” of the festival.
