The death of the fado singer Carlos do Carmo, this Friday, January 1, woke up the country and, little by little, those closest to them are making public the most heartfelt tributes. On Instagram, Agir addresses the “dear godfather”, remembering him with pride and also as the “chosen family”.
Acir highlights that “Portugal traveled a little more around the world on the wings of his voice”, in words addressed to Carlos do Carmo. “And several times I traveled on summer vacations to the Algarve, on New Year’s Eve to Brazil, and mainly, for nights and dinners where I always politely asked him to take off his hat at the table,” adds the son of the musician Paulo. de Carvalho, who, like many public figures, reacted to the death of Carlos do Carmo.
The artist also says that his godfather made him “a partner of his great Belenenses” the day he was born, although now he confesses that he has not paid dues since “he was eighteen years old.” And, according to Agir, the justification is for not sharing “his taste and appreciation for the beautiful game.”
For him, Carlos do Carmo “was the family that was chosen and made, does and will always be a part” of his life. “See you always Cácá. Always charming”, concludes Agir, along with images of the two taken on his wedding day with Catarina Gama, in September 2017, and in other special moments they shared.
Carlos do Carmo’s funeral takes place on Monday. The wake begins at 9 am on Monday, at the Basilica of the Star, in Lisbon, with a mass in attendance at 2 pm. The ceremonies coincide with the national day of mourning decreed by the Government.
