A man died and a young woman was injured this Monday in an accident involving three vehicles on Complementary Itinerary 2 (IC2), in the municipality of Rio Maior, a road that is isolated from traffic, the GNR source told Lusa. .
According to the Santarém District Relief Operations Command (CDOS), the alert for the accident, in the Asseiceira parish, reached the authorities at 7:02 pm, and eight vehicles with 17 elements of the Rio Voluntary Firefighters Maior rushed to the scene, Emergency medical vehicle and resuscitation of the Hospital de Santarém, GNR and Infrastructure of Portugal.
The accident involved a heavy transport of wooden goods and two light vehicles.
A source from the GNR General Command told the Lusa agency that the fatal victim is a 64-year-old man and the serious injury of a 17-year-old girl.
“The road intersects in both directions at kilometer 66 of IC2,” added the GNR, at 9:20 p.m.
The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the GNR Traffic Accident Investigation Center.
