A baby of about a month old was abandoned next to a religious institution in Cacém, in Sintra, this Tuesday night. A letter that followed with the child. gave an account of the reason for the abandonment.

According to the commander of the Corporation, Francisco Rosado, the baby was “dressed and packaged,” apparently well managed and was accompanied by a letter, in which the mother of the minor explained the reason for the abandonment, related to financial difficulties.

TVI says the baby was a 21-day-old boy. The scream would have alerted people inside the social center, who called the fire department at 10:15 pm on Tuesday.

In the letter left with the baby, according to Correio da Manhã, a request from the mother can be read: “My mother loves me so much that she gives me to another family with better conditions to adopt me.” According to the letter, the baby was born on August 26.

This Wednesday, the CM released a video of a witness who recorded the moment when the authorities rescued the baby.

The minor was immediately transferred to the pediatric services of the Amadora Sintra Hospital, where he remains, and the legal procedures will be carried out with a view to his reception.

The case has already been referred to the Juvenile Court, which will decide the future of the newborn. The abandonment of the baby will also be investigated.
