A man, Baltazar José, 69, set the 33-year-old woman on fire in Sousel, Portalegre. The alert was given by the attacker himself at the beginning of the afternoon of this Tuesday, around 2:12 p.m.
When the GNR arrived at the scene, the man was already outside the carpentry, while the woman was wrapped in blankets inside the building, owned by the attacker and where he lived upstairs.
Marília Medeiros, the victim, was transferred to the Évora hospital and transferred to the São José Hospital in Lisbon with 70% of the body burned, Baltazar was arrested and the investigation passed to the Judicial Police, which considers it a crime of attempted murder. The aggressor and the victim had a casual relationship and it was jealousy that motivated the man to commit the crime.
The two people had also recently been involved in the detection of a vehicle near the man’s home.
About 20 years ago, the woman had been the victim of this man for pedophilia. The aggressor went to trial and was sentenced, having served 4 years in the Elvas Prison.
Currently, they had a casual relationship, the aggressor is detained and is waiting to be present at the first interrogation of the Public Ministry to learn about the coercion measures.
