At Covid-19 times, and with the restrictions of the state of emergency still in force, the thousands and thousands of people who filled the lawns of Alameda, next to the Fonte Luminosa and on Avenida Almirante Reis, were a picture of the past. The celebration of May 1 of this year in Lisbon was more like a large military parade, with union members maintaining a distance of at least one meter between each other.

“This May 1 is different from the others. The organization’s golden rule is respect for social distance ”. On the CGTP speakers that were next to Fonte Luminosa, in Alameda, in Lisbon, this was the warning that was heard. In the immense Alameda lawn, there were 72 rows delimited by ribbons, with a distance of five meters. In each row, space was created for 15 people, separated by at least a meter apart.

Almost all wore a mask, some surgical, others red, the latter distributed by the organization.
