The friendly match between Sporting and Napoli, regarding the Cinco Violinos trophy, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, has been canceled.
At stake are the three positive cases of Covid-19 in the Sporting squad: Cristian Borja, Nuno Santos and Rodrigo Fernandes.
After contacts with the General Directorate of Health and the regional delegate, the departure in Alvalade was canceled.
Sporting justified the postponement in a statement:
“Sporting Clube de Portugal informs that the match between Sporting CP and SSC Napoli, scheduled for 7.30 pm today, has been canceled on the recommendation of the General Directorate of Health because ‘the necessary conditions for the match to be held are not met ‘.
The Health Authorities at the national, regional and local levels made this decision after the ‘risk assessment, in view of the result obtained in a SARS-CoV-2 research test’, in compliance with their competencies.
Finally, Sporting CP regrets the consequences for all its partners, fans and partners for not playing the game.
