The target audience are children, pregnant women, and postpartum women.

This Monday (4), the first phase of the third stage of the National Influenza Vaccination Campaign began in the Federal District. The campaign is aimed at children from 6 months to 5 years, pregnant women and women who have recently given birth (up to 45 days after delivery).

This target audience has priority because they are more vulnerable to influenza and must be vaccinated until June 5 at the Basic Health Units (UBS).

“Starting today, 52,000 doses of the influenza vaccine will be distributed to the DF Health Regions, to the Health Regions, to begin the first phase of the third stage of the campaign. Taking into account that all priority groups will also have until June 5 to be vaccinated, ”reported Renata Brandão, Immunization manager of the Health Department.

The manager explains that the vaccination period was extended by the Ministry of Health until June due to the new coronavirus pandemic. The federal government also opted for the cancellation of D-Day, a national mobilization, to avoid crowds in the vaccination rooms. “With that, the campaign ended, which would be on May 22,” he said.

Priority

In a circular note, the Health Department emphasizes the importance of immediately starting vaccination of children, pregnant women, and women who have recently given birth, as they are more susceptible to influenza. The folder calls on this audience to search for vaccination rooms at UBS as soon as possible.

“The DF cold chain has already received the equivalent number of doses for part of the population in the third stage of the campaign. It was decided, then, that it would be important to start this portion of the population as soon as possible, ”said Fernanda Ledes, a nurse in the technical area of immunization at the Department of Health.
