The influenza vaccination campaign in Três Lagoas is reinforced. The municipality will receive a donation of 40,000 doses of the vaccine from the Butantan Institute. The announcement was made by the Municipal Health Department, which also reported that the strategic execution of immunization with this lot is being concluded.

Last year, the institute transferred 50,000 doses to Três Lagoas. At that time, the vaccines were aimed at the general population, that is, people who are not part of any of the priority groups. Until now, the folder has not known if these 40 thousand doses will also serve this purpose. The press office of the secretariat reported that the strategic plan for the immunization of this batch should conclude this Monday (4).

In a note, the folder says that the secretariat will still look for the amount and that “it is already preparing an action plan for when the vaccines arrive in the municipality.”

It is worth remembering that the vaccine immunizes against two types of Influenza A virus, H1N1 and H3N2, and also against Influenza B virus. It does not protect against the new coronavirus.

The Butantan Institute is the manufacturer of the vaccine in Brazil and a supplier to the Ministry of Health. After the first donation, which took place last year, the municipality entered the Institute’s list for the coming years.

CURRENT STEP

Três Lagoas has already carried out the first stage of vaccination and is now serving the second risk group, the chronically ill. The doses of the vaccine for this stage in execution, as well as the previous one, were sent directly by the Federal Government and are available at the Municipal Health Units.
