Some 600 people protested this Saturday in Copenhagen against the restrictive measures imposed to stop the spread of the new coronavirus as well as the future mandatory “vaccine passport”.

Hairs Led ‘Man in Black Danemark’ [Homens de negro da Dinamarca], a very active group on the Facebook social network that has been organizing protest actions for more than a month, the demonstrators gathered in front of the parliament to defend “freedom of choice”, denounce the “coercion” and the “dictatorship” of the struggle against the -covid confinement in Denmark.

In the freezing cold that was felt, this action, which was attended by children, was also aimed at protesting the so-called “crown passport.”

Like other European countries, Denmark will develop an electronic certificate of vaccination against covid-19 intended for travel and that can also be used for people to access sporting, cultural events or even restaurants.

For the organizers, the creation of this “passport” implies the obligation to vaccinate, which translates into a restriction of individual freedoms. In Denmark, vaccination is recommended, but not mandatory.

Using smoke torches, the protesters, some of them hooded, marched through central Copenhagen shouting “We are fed up” or “Freedom for Denmark” and displayed a portrait of Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, very similar to that of the North Korean dictator. , Kim Jong-un.

Despite the radical tone of the protesters, the demonstration, which was authorized, proceeded without incident and was accompanied by the police.

Two weeks ago, a similar event was marked by the burning of a mannequin with the image of the head of government. At that time, two men were arrested and prosecuted for threats against Mette Frederiksen.

The Danish government extended the restriction measures until February 28, with the closure of non-essential shops, bars and restaurants. Elementary schools will reopen next Monday.
