The former vice president of the CDS-PP, Afolfo Mesquita Nunes, left the meeting of the National Council that takes place this Saturday and will vote a motion of confidence to the board, accusing the president of making an “illegal and cowardly” decision.

Later, the former Secretary of State for Tourism decided to return to work. Through a ‘post’ published on Twitter, Mesquita Nunes said: “I left the works because I do not agree with an illegality; I return because legality, after so much pressure, prevailed.”

The president of the National Council, Filipe Anacoreta Correia, put the decision of the members on how the vote of confidence will be voted in the national political commission, presented by the leader of the party.

Adolfo Mesquita Nunes, who proposed holding an early elective congress, did not agree with this decision and announced that he would leave the meeting.

The former leader defended that the National Council must heed the opinion of the National Council of Jurisdiction, issued on Friday, which establishes that “the vote of confidence in the National Political Commission must be carried out by secret ballot.”

Considering that the decision of Anchorite Correia is “illegal, it is cowardly”, Mesquita Nunes stressed that he did not want to “participate in a National Council that violates the statutes.”
