The rain collapses the false ceilings and floods the Forum Algarve park

On the morning of Friday, February 5, a heavy rain collapsed false ceilings in the Forum Algarve, in Faro, next to the cafeteria and the escalators to access the restaurant area. The underground car park was also affected.

In statements to South Information, Sérgio Santos, director of Forum Algarve, said that these events were due to “the large amount of rain” and that, “fortunately, there are no injuries registered: only material damage.”

The area where the false ceilings collapsed is not currently in operation due to the closure of non-essential goods stores, decreed by the Government as part of the fight against the pandemic.

In addition to plasterboards, the underground car park (-1) was also “partially flooded”.

Now, “damage repair work is underway” and is expected “to be completed over the weekend.”

The heavy rains that fell this morning also flooded warehouses and garages in Faro.
