65-year-old man arrested for sexually abusing his granddaughter

The Judicial Police, through the Criminal Investigation Department of the Azores, announced today the arrest of a 65-year-old man for the alleged practice of various crimes of child sexual abuse.

The alleged victim is the minor granddaughter herself, who was 10 years old at the time of the sexual acts in question, which lasted until she was 12 years old, taking advantage of the proximity of the aggressor given by the family relationship of the maternal grandfather to subject her to the practices mentioned above.

“The investigation, which took place in the Central Group of the Azores Archipelago, found that the accused had a history of abuses of a similar nature, carried out against the mother of the current victim,” explains the note sent to the editor.

The detainee has already been present “in the first judicial interrogation, having applied the coercive measures to prohibit contacts and approach the home and school of the victim.”
