The coordinator of the national vaccination plan, Francisco Ramos, said that the goal of vaccinating 1.3 million Portuguese by March will not be met.

In an interview with RTP, Francisco Ramos said that the objective would not be met when he commented on the number of doses of the Astrazeneca vaccine that would arrive in Portugal. “The first arrival in Portugal took place on the 9th, with 73,000 doses.” Here are the 113,000 doses that will arrive on February 19.

At the end of February, Portugal will receive 211 thousand doses. However, the Portuguese goal of vaccinating “1.3 million, in this phase 1, by the end of March, will not be met,” explained Francisco Ramos. “But we can do it on stage until April. They will already be vaccinated or at least they will have started to vaccinate the first dose, “he added.

The person responsible for the vaccination plan highlights that by April the country will have the capacity to vaccinate between “250,000 to 300,000 people or even more, if there are enough vaccines. We are talking about 50 thousand inoculations per business day. If we manage to extend the weekend, the weekly volume will be higher.
