Portugal registers 293 deaths from Covid-19 – Jornal Económico

Portugal has a total of 668,951 confirmed cases of Covid-19, plus 15,073 compared to the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Wednesday, January 27. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country rose to 11,305, with an additional 293 deaths in the last 24 hours.

DGS reveals that there are currently 293,171 registered cases in the North (more 3,959), 94,073 in the Center (more 2,309), 235,498 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (more 7,605), 16,029 in the Algarve (more than 500), 3,309 cases in the Autonomous Region of the Azores (more than 25), 3,663 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (more than 191) and 23,208 cases in Alentejo (more than 484).

Currently, there are 6,603 hospitalized patients (more than 131), of which 783 are in Intensive Care Units (18 more) and 484,753 cases recovered in Portugal, 9,268 more than those registered yesterday.

Regarding deaths, of the total of 11,305 deaths, 4,258 were registered in the North (more than 59), 1,942 in the Center (more than 66), 4,267 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (more than 136), 183 in the Algarve (more five), 24 in the Azores (one more) and 597 in the Alentejo (another 26). There are 34 deaths from Covid-19 in Madeira.

There are currently 301,916 men and 366,832 women infected with the new coronavirus, with 203 infected people whose gender is unknown. In terms of deaths, there are 5,901 men and 5,404 women. 220,256 people are under surveillance, 4,486 more than yesterday. There are still 172,893 active cases, 5,512 less than yesterday.

The age group with the highest number of cases is between 40 and 49 years old, with 48,920 men and 62,758 women, in addition to 33 people of unknown sex, in a total of 111,678 cases. The highest number of deaths is recorded over the age of 80, with 3,464 men and 4,136 women, out of a total of 7,600 deaths.
