The president of the Municipal Assembly of Arcos de Valdevez, Francisco Araújo, is the second mayor to be vaccinated against covid-19 without being part of the first priority group of the National Vaccination Plan.

The doses of the vaccine will have been maintained, according to the Observer, and the responsible nurse will have contacted Francisco Araújo, also a provider for the town’s Santa Casa da Misericórdia, who will suffer cardiovascular problems and accepted the vaccine.

It is recalled that this week the controversial vaccination of the Mayor of Reguengos de Monsaraz, who was not part of any priority group, was reported.

At that time, Francisco Ramos, coordinator of the vaccination plan against covid-19, referred to the case as a misuse of the vaccine. On the other hand, it confirms that the rule is not to waste doses, but emphasizes that it would be convenient to look for other people within the first priority group.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Health has already specified that each institution is responsible for the vaccination criteria of its professionals and users.
