In Portugal, which is once again in general confinement, 9,465 people died out of 581,605 confirmed cases of contagion, according to the latest bulletin from the Directorate General of Health.

Continuous vaccination plan

The vaccination plan against COVID-19 in Portugal began on December 27 in hospitals, covering health professionals, and has already been extended to nursing homes. According to the latest data provided by the Ministry of Health, 106,000 vaccines have already been administered in Portugal.

The first phase of the plan, until the end of March, also covers professionals from the armed forces, security forces and critical services. In this phase, starting in February, people aged 50 years and over with at least one of the following pathologies will be vaccinated: heart failure, coronary heart disease, kidney failure or chronic respiratory disease on ventilatory support and / or long-term oxygen therapy. duration.

The second phase begins in April and includes people aged 65 and over and people aged 50 to 64, including at least one of the following conditions: diabetes, active malignancy, chronic kidney disease, heart failure. liver disease, hypertension, obesity and other less prevalent diseases that can be defined later, based on scientific knowledge.
