The Government will meet in an extraordinary Council of Ministers this Monday and, according to RTP, more confinement measures may be decided.

The “RTP” advances that the Government may decide this Monday to prohibit the sale of drinks to the wicket.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa admitted this Sunday to support the Government if it is necessary to proceed with more restrictive measures of the State of Emergency. Upon leaving a visit to the Hospital de Santa María as part of the campaign of the presidential candidates, he said that he did not want to speak as president of the Republic, but ended up admitting the scenario, “more if not for a political signal to the Portuguese.”

“We have to look at it from week to week and if we need to rethink the measures, the Government will naturally have the support of the President of the Republic for this reweighting. More than a political signal for the Portuguese, “he said in statements to journalists, broadcast by RTP3, this Sunday at the exit of Santa María.

Also this Sunday, the Minister of Internal Administration assured that the Government is in line with the statement of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who this Sunday did not rule out the need for greater restrictive measures. Eduardo Cabrita stressed that the Executive is making a “permanent reassessment” of the situation.

“What we do is a permanent reassessment of both the evolution of the pandemic and the necessary measures to safeguard its adequacy and proportionality. I think that was the meaning of the declaration of the President of the Republic, with which we totally agree, “said the government official this Sunday in statements to journalists, broadcast by RTP3, after leaving an electoral college in Barreiro .
