The President of the Government, António Costa, said this Thursday, in an interview with TVI, that the State has already spent 22.9 billion euros in support of companies and that this amount is higher than expected through what the government calls Bazuca European.

“Our GDP fell by 15,000 million euros last year, the set of support measures for companies and families amounted to 22,900 million euros in its different modalities. This amount of 22.9 billion is related to what the State has spent and what it has done without income. It is much more than the European bazooka that we are going to receive. Before 2022 we will not return to the levels of 2019. With the measures announced today, we have doubled the support that was planned for companies ”, stressed the Prime Minister.

António Costa highlighted that “we have been experiencing a deep global economic crisis for many months” but considered that there are reasons for some optimism: “Fortunately, Portuguese companies have shown much greater resilience than was feared at the beginning of this crisis.”

The prime minister has no doubt that this “is going to be a lengthy recovery job, but we want to continue to protect income, protect jobs and protect businesses.” The minister wants that, before the first semester, the money from the European bazooka reaches the countries of the European Union.
