After all, the leisure activity centers (ATL), as well as the explanation centers and driving schools, will close during the general closure of the New State of Emergency, which begins this Friday.
The information was rectified in the diploma published today in the Diário da República, which thus contradicts what was in a version prior to the final document that the Government discussed and approved in the Council of Ministers.
Thus, according to the final document now updated, the ATL, the explanation centers and the language schools have to close their doors as of this Friday, due to the general confinement decreed by the Government.
In addition, driving schools will also be forced to close, according to the Executive’s diploma. However, exams and other tests are authorized, mainly because the centers themselves keep their doors open.
It is recalled that the Government announced yesterday that “there will be a new curfew duty in Portugal, after the renewal of the state of emergency, as happened in March and April. “Each of us must stay home. The exceptions exist because we will not stop going to the supermarket to do the purchases we need. We will not stop being able to go to work, but the rule is fundamental: it is to stay at home, ”said António Costa at the end of the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
“In general, the new measures announced are essentially the same as those in force at the beginning of the pandemic, in 2020, because only then will it be possible to stop the number of confirmed cases,” the official said. The main exception refers to the presidential elections of January 24, to guarantee the exercise of this right by the Portuguese. In addition, the schools will also continue to operate.
The new curfew duty goes into effect at midnight on Friday, January 15. António Costa has also made it clear that the news should point to a one-month horizon, thus covering at least part of February.
In this new confinement, the operation of the trade will be very similar to that of March, practically closing the same services and establishments. Schools, churches, and courts are among the exceptions.
Also, public services by appointment are still open; doctor’s offices, dentists and pharmacies; churches; hypermarkets; e-commerce activities and remote service provision; grocery stores and supermarkets with capacity for 5 people per 100 square meters; restaurants, bars and cafes just to go.
