Most of the pages of the town councils in the Leiria district of the Chega party, on Facebook, “appeared ‘this weekend with a new profile photo: instead of the logo of the movement led by André Ventura, there is a photo of Vitorino Silva, better known as Tino de Rans, with a call to vote for this candidate for the presidency of the Republic.

Luís Paulo Fernandes, president of the Leiria do Chega district, attributes responsibility for this cartoon to his predecessor (Rodrigo Canoa), assisted by other party dissidents, and promises to file a complaint with the Public Ministry if the party leader does not do so. . .

“It’s a shame what is happening. The former president of the district created the pages, he did not give us access or give us the militants’ cards. If Tino supports, I respect. But this way, he is going badly,” said the leader.

JN tried to confront Rodrigo Canoa with the accusations on Monday, but said he was not available “to speak to the press.” On social media, however, he defended himself: “I just hope that everyone who accuses me has factual evidence of what he says. Finding it is not enough.”

One of the first pages to change its face was Chega do Bombarral. Tiago Soares, former leader of the council, guaranteed that he had no responsibility for this change. But he assumed that he started supporting Vitorino Silva. “He is the cleanest candidate,” he justified.

This Tuesday morning, some militants advised blocking the denunciation of the pages, but those of Alvaiázere, Ansião, Bombarral, Castanheira de Pera, Marinha Grande, Nazaré, Óbidos, Peniche and Pombal remained in favor of Tino de Rans.
