POrtugal said, this Monday, the last goodbye to Carlos do Carmo in a moment full of emotion and to the sound of the mythical ‘Lisboa Menina e Moça’.

Dozens of people waited, during the afternoon, at the Estrela Basilica, in Lisbon, for the exit of the urn with the remains of the fado singer Carlos do Carmo, who died last Friday at the age of 81.

The moment was accompanied by Portuguese guitars who sang the chords of the music celebrated by the eternal fado singer and which, however, became the official song of the city: ‘Lisboa Menina e Moça’.

The funeral services began this morning at 10 in the morning, with the urn covered by the national flag and a handkerchief from the football club ‘Os Belenenses‘, to which several anonymous citizens and individuals such as director António paid tribute Victorino de Almeida, the musician Luis Represas and the president of the Câtimes From Almada, Inês de Medeiros.

The funeral, reserved for the family, took place after mass and left the Estrela Basilica towards the Cemitério dos Prazeres, a journey of approximately one kilometer.
