Bad weather is here to stay in Madeira

The next few days will be rainy, although a relative improvement is expected tomorrow.

According to Victor Prior, delegate in Madeira of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), for this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday a meteorological situation is again forecast that could lead to heavy rainfall, on the south and north coasts. in mountainous areas this should result in a yellow, even orange warning.

As for today, although the Region was under a red alert, the precipitation values ​​recorded were relatively lower than expected.

The wind, which conditioned the landing of several flights at Madeira airport, had its most critical period between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., with a significant improvement expected from 5:00 p.m.

It should be remembered that the IPMA warnings vary between red, the most serious, orange and yellow, the latter being the least serious, which means that there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation and that the population must follow the evolution of climatic conditions.
