The mayor of Ribeira Brava expressed to Miguel Albuquerque and Pedro Ramos his concern about the increase in cases in the municipality, which is on the threshold of the reference figures for 100,000 inhabitants.

Anyway, in the joint meeting with the Government and the mayors of Câmara de Lobos and Funchal, Ricardo Nascimento said that the three active transmission chains, which add up to more than 40 cases, are under control and the people are complying with the isolation . In his opinion, “the sanitary fences in Ribeira Brava are not justified”.

In any case, the mayor was concerned about the breach of social distance on a daily basis in certain types of establishments. “We are concerned about the issue of the increase in cases, but I continue to say that three chains are perfectly identified, but it is an added work for the competent entities,” he acknowledged.

In his opinion, the next few days will be decisive, given the number of days of incubation of the virus, between five and seven. Ricardo Nascimento hopes to have the situation of the active transmission channels under control in the coming weeks.

Apologizing for saying the suggestions he left at the meeting for his municipality, the mayor of Ribeira Brava acknowledged that going back to schools is a concern, despite stressing that, at this level, “things have worked very well.” Anyway, “we will await the decisions of the Government,” he said, also congratulating himself on the availability of the regional executive to receive the mayors of the municipalities in question.
