IASÁUDE reported 73 new positive cases today, so the Region now has 1,760 confirmed cases of covid-19. Today’s record is the highest since the pandemic began.
According to a statement sent to the newsrooms, 24 cases are imported (6 from the United Kingdom, 3 from Venezuela, 1 from Brazil, 3 from France, 1 from Germany, 1 from the Azores, 4 from the Northern Region of Portugal and 4 from the Region from Lisbon and the Tagus Valley).
But the majority, 49 cases, are transmitted locally, most of them already associated with contacts or positive case contexts.
The last day of the year was marked by another death, as already reported, a death that brought the total number of fatalities to 14.
The number of active cases is 652, of which 165 are imported cases and 487 are locally transmitted cases. According to ISAÚDE, another 30 recovered cases were registered, and the Region now has 1,094 cases.
