50 new positive cases in the Azores in the last 24 hours

On the island of São Miguel, of the 42 new positive cases, 21 are related to previously identified transmission chains; 12 have yet to be determined; three are related to travel history (referred to screening analysis on the sixth day), two of which refer to residents and one to non-residents: six of the cases are the result of three new transmission chains determined in the last 24 hours (one in Ponta Delgada, with three elements, and another two in Ribeira Grande, one with one element and the other with two elements).

On Terceira Island, of the five new positive cases, two are the result of a chain now reactivated in Angra do Heroísmo; three refer to cases with a travel history (two resulting from screening tests on the sixth day, one resident and one non-resident) and one of the cases resulting from the detection of trips between islands.

In São Jorge, the three new positive cases are the result of a new chain found in the last 24 hours, shared between Velas and Calheta.

12 recoveries

There were 12 recoveries in the last 24 hours, two in Angra do Heroísmo, on Terceira Island, and 10 on São Miguel Island (one in Ponta Delgada, four in Ribeira Grande and five in Vila Franca do Campo).

The Regional Health Authority points out that “one of the positive cases reported yesterday (Tuesday) presented documentation that proves previous infection, ceasing to be counted as an active positive case in the Region).

18 Hospitalizations

There are 18 people hospitalized, 16 of whom are in the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada (one of whom is in the Intensive Care Unit); and two at the Santo Espírito Hospital in Angra do Heroísmo (both in the Intensive Care Unit).

61 Active transmission chains

Currently, there are 61 active transmission channels, of which 50 are on the island of São Miguel (three new channels in the last 24 hours); 10 on Terceira Island (chain reactivated in the last 24 hours) and a new chain on São Jorge Island.

78 transmission chains have been extinguished to date, one of them in Ribeira Grande and two in Angra do Heroísmo, in the last 24 hours.

333 positive positive cases

There are currently 333 active positive cases in the Region, 284 in São Miguel, 37 in Terceira, one in Pico, four in São Jorge and seven in Faial.

To date, 1,908 cases of infection with the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes the Covid-19 disease, have been detected, with 22 deaths and 1,461 recoveries.
