Russia accused Russian opponent Aleksei Navalny on Monday (28) of violating the terms of a sentence, made on Russian territory, in 2014. Navalny is also accused of escaping the supervision of a Russian criminal inspection authority.

Russia gave Russian opponent Aleksei Navalny a last minute ultimatum on Monday: return immediately from Germany and report to a Moscow office on Tuesday morning (29), or you will be arrested if you return after this period. The information was confirmed by Sputnik.

Aleksei Navalny, head of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), which is under criminal investigation for allegedly money laundering, was hospitalized in August this year after being ill on a flight from Tomsk to Moscow.

Citing an article in the British medical journal The Lancet about his treatment, Russia contends that Navalny was discharged from a Berlin hospital on September 20 and that all symptoms of his “illness” had disappeared by October 12.

In this way, the convicted person is not complying with all the obligations imposed by the court, and is avoiding appearing under the supervision of the Criminal Inspection.

The Navalny case

On August 22, Navalny was transferred to the German Charité hospital in Berlin. Two days later, on Monday (24), the medical team reported that the data from clinical examinations pointed to an intoxication by a substance from the group of cholinesterase inhibitors, an enzyme vital for the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Although the poisoning allegations were echoed by the western media because Navalny was an opponent of the Kremlin, not everyone is convinced of this theory. Russia denies any involvement in the incident.

Although doctors in Germany took into consideration the possibility of poisoning, tests carried out on Navalny’s blood and urine did not reveal any traces of poison. Russian experts refuted this hypothesis, saying that if Navalny had been a victim of Novichok, he would not have survived.

It is worth recalling that in October this year, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia has information that foreign intelligence agents are working with Russian opponent Aleksei Navalny.

“It is not the patient [Navalny] working with western intelligence services, but [sim] Western intelligence services working with him […] In fact, there is such information [da cooperação de Navalny com serviços secretos], I can say more accurately: experts from the Central Intelligence Agency are working with him [CIA, em inglês] of the United States these days, “Peskov said.
