A German pilot took out a giant syringe in the sky this Sunday, in a symbolic gesture in honor of the start of the covid-19 vaccination campaign in Europe.

Samy Kramer, 20, flew 200 kilometers along Lake Constance in southern Germany. The syringe route was noted on the flightradar24 website.

“There are still a lot of people who are opposed to vaccination. My action can serve to make them think about the issue, so that the process moves forward, “the pilot told Reuters, adding that his flight should not be seen as a direct call for inoculation.

“Perhaps it was a small sign of joy, because the aviation industry was very affected by the pandemic,” he said.

Vaccination against covid-19 officially began this Sunday in the European Union, although there were exceptions: Hungary, Slovakia and Germany began to vaccinate this Saturday.

In Portugal, the first to receive the vaccine this morning was António Sarmento, director of the Infection Service of the São João Hospital, in Porto.
