Since the start of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 6,478 deaths and 391,782 cases of infection by the new coronavirus, of which 70,178 are active today (1,488 more than yesterday).

The DGS indicates that of the 65 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, 29 occurred in the North region, 23 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 10 in the Center region and three in Alentejo.

Regarding hospital admissions, the DGS epidemiological bulletin indicates that 2,754 people are hospitalized (99 fewer than yesterday), of which 504 are in intensive care rooms (one less than the previous day).

According to the DGS bulletin, the northern region recorded the highest number of new SARS-CoV-2 infections in the last 24 hours (1,697).

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the North region has registered 201,417 cases of infection and 3,030 deaths.

In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, 1,463 new infections have been reported, with 126,275 cases and 2,243 deaths so far.

In the Central region there were 620 more cases, with a total of 43,892 infections and 926 deaths.

In Alentejo, 201 more cases were reported, totaling 10,128 infections and 183 deaths since the epidemic began in Portugal.

The Algarve region has reported 125 new cases today, adding up to 7,031 infections and 64 deaths.

Madeira registered 11 new cases. This autonomous community has 1,377 infections and 11 deaths from covid-19.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 29 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, totaling 1,662 infections and 21 deaths.

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 176,023 men and 215,621 women in Portugal, according to DGS data, according to which there are 138 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, as these data are not provided automatically.

Of the total deaths, 3,372 were men and 3,106 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in the elderly over 80 years, followed by people between 70 and 79 years.
