There are 94 more cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, according to data from the bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) of this Thursday, December 24, which has just been published.

The Algarve thus has an accumulation of 6906 infected since the beginning of the pandemic and maintains 64 deaths.

In Alentejo, today’s bulletin reports 200 new infected (9927 in total) and 4 more deaths (180 in total).

Across the country, according to the DGS, this Thursday there are 4,378 new confirmed cases and almost the same number of new recovered (4,087). This means that the number of active cases has increased, but in less number than yesterday (+221). There are currently 68,690 active cases throughout the country.

The North was once again the region with the highest number of new cases registered (1,952), followed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (1,271), Center (810), Alentejo (200), Algarve (94), Madeira (34) and Azores (17).

As for deaths, there was also a slight decrease from the previous day, with another 70 throughout the country, bringing the total to 6,413.

In addition to the 4 deaths registered in the Alentejo, we must also regret this Thursday, 28 more in the North, 24 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 13 in the Center and 1 in Madeira.

In hospitals, the number of hospitalized patients decreased, with 137 fewer, in a total of 2,853. The number of patients in intensive care decreased, with 6 less, in a total of 505.

This Wednesday there are 88,978 contacts under surveillance, 1935 more than in the last DGS bulletin.
