The journalist Márcio Candoso died this Thursday, at the age of 61, in the Gaia hospital, the victim of a prolonged illness, a source close to the family confirmed to Lusa.

Born on May 4, 1959, Márcio Alves Candoso studied Law in Coimbra and Lisbon. He was a journalist between 1987 and 2010, having worked in the offices of O Comércio do Porto, Primeiro de Janeiro, Jornal de Notícias, Lusa agency, Rádio Renascença, Valor Magazine and Diário de Notícias.

In 2015, he published the book of poems “Before Destiny”, through RCP Edições, in which he collected poems created over three decades. At the time, he said it seemed “time to go public with a lesser-known facet of [seu] job”.

Márcio Alves Candoso declared, at that time, that writing was his life.

“For me, perhaps that I was harassed reluctantly in a moment of turbulent silences, in which the verses ceased to be significant and the stops of the spirit imposed each other, this description-of-the-imaginary- that was most necessary and easier -not-living, this discovery of me after ‘irreconcilable’ disappointment, with a good part of the words of others “, could be read in the preface of” Before destiny “, shared through the collection of funds — well successful — the one that was intended for publication.

In the text, the author added: “Who knows, maybe I was only driven by the fear of forgetting the truth or the remorse of not saying what I was like, and I am. Or even by the magic game of hiding a little precious just for me, telling me in the rest, in fact, an immense rest that always remains if one takes care of having an open Soul in a regime of permanence and vigil ”.
