A taxi driver from Fundão was kidnapped by two men and a woman, between 19 and 23 years old, this Thursday morning, in a crime that only ended about 200 kilometers after it started, with the taxi colliding with a GNR Dam in Albergaria -a-Velha, in the Aveiro district.

Also in the car was a two-year-old boy, the son of the detainee.

GNR official source confirmed to CM that the three kidnappers got into the taxi at 6:00 am in Fundão as normal customers. Shortly after starting the trip, they fired a shotgun at the taxi driver, ordering him to go to the Braga area.

The same source explained that the company that owns the taxi found out about the kidnapping through a GPS device and immediately alerted the police authorities.

It was detected that the vehicle was traveling, at high speed, on the A25. A taxi chase began in the Viseu area, which was only intercepted in the Albergaria-a-Velha area.

It was necessary to call in the GNR special operations personnel to immobilize the fleeing vehicle.

The taxi crashed violently into a barrage of GNR vehicles, damaging two patrol cars and slightly injuring two military personnel.

The 37-year-old taxi driver was unharmed from the accident.

The PJ has been contacted, who must retain custody of the detainees, presenting them to the court
