Chega militants were involved in clashes in a meeting that took place on December 5, in Santarém, the Observer said.

According to the same source, 12 militants were invited to participate, as was the party’s vice president, Nuno Afonso. Now, three members of the Chega de Salvaterra de Magos installation committee and a former Chega de Coruche leader who were not invited went to the meeting to complain about it. At the time, they were told that not all the militants in the district could have been called.

To comply with the covid-19 prevention measures, the three militants were invited to leave the meeting, but the tensions intensified and culminated in a discussion and even aggression: the Coruche militant hit a Santarém party militant twice. , version that was confirmed by the president of Chega / Santarém, Manuela Estêvão, according to the Observer. The aggressor had to be arrested so as not to attack another militant.

The policemen were called to the scene and they tell a slightly different version: according to the authorities, five people were identified and two were beaten. Chega’s managers say that the versions do not match because the aggressor was assisted because she had injuries to her hand from the blows she gave.
