Marcus Thuram was expelled for spitting in Stefan Posch’s face and is now apologizing.
Borussia Monchengladbach player Marcus Thuram apologized after being sent off for spitting in the face of Hoffenheim defender Stefan Posch.
The 23-year-old forward saw a direct red card in the 79th minute during Saturday’s game, in which Monchengladbach lost at home to Hoffenheim (1-2) after VAR saw Marcus Thuram’s gesture.
“That is not my character and it cannot happen again. I reacted to an opponent incorrectly and something happened accidentally and unintentionally,” the Borussia Monchengladbach player started.
“I apologize to everyone … Of course, I accept all the consequences of my gesture,” he concluded.
This was the first time the forward had seen a red card for Monchengladbach during his two Bundesliga seasons.
