The coaches of FC Porto and Benfica agree that the football Super Cup between the two teams, scheduled for Wednesday, is “a special match” and they share “ambition and the will to win”.

In an interview with the magazine of the Portuguese Football Federation, Sérgio Conceição says that this Super Cup has “a special meaning because it is another title and all titles are special”, and he wants to win this one more “to join the Cup and to the championship to close a difficult year, but at the same time fantastic ”.

Jorge Jesus shares the same vision: “Winning always has a special meaning, but in this case, it would have even more. 2020 is being a difficult and very demanding year for everyone and, therefore, finishing it in the best way would be even more rewarding. “.

The Colorado coach believes that, being a classic, he will have excitement and passion and expects a great football match between two teams with great quality, leaving Benfica to work harder to win the first trophy of the season.

Given the fact that FC Porto is the team with the most Super Cups won, Sérgio Conceição understands that every achievement of the club, whatever it may be, only “increases the responsibility of all those who represent it in the search for new titles.”

The symbolism of Christmas also says little to Sérgio Conceição when the victory of the Super Cup is played: “When we are going to dispute a title nobody is thinking about the time of year in which he lives”.

Jorge Jesús also does not give importance to the time of year in which the Super Cup is played: “When the referee blows, surely the players will not think about anything other than winning the match and the trophy.”

The Benfica coach has two Super Cups won in 2014 and 2015 on his resume and he only regrets that this edition cannot count on the presence of the public: “They were matches with the atmosphere of a final, a special atmosphere, with so much emotion and passion that football is missing and that, unfortunately, we will not have it in this Super Cup ”.

The 2019/20 Super Cup will take place next Wednesday, December 23 at the Aveiro municipal stadium, at 8:45 p.m., between the national champion, FC Porto, and the defeated Portuguese Cup finalist, Benfica.
