Municipalities are classified into four levels: moderate risk (less than 240 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days); high (240 to 480); very high (480 to 960) and extreme (960 or more cases).
In view of the list that referred to the period from November 19 to December 2, which served as the basis for the application of restrictions during the current state of emergency, the number of municipalities in the two highest echelons decreased from 113 to 109 .
But almost half of the 278 municipalities in mainland Portugal saw a change in level. More specifically, 69 municipalities went to a more serious risk level, while 55 saw an improvement in the situation that allowed them to resign.
The distribution is now 30 municipalities in extreme risk, five less than in the list in force until 00:00 hours on December 24, 79 in very high risk (one more), 92 in high risk (without variation) and 77 in moderate risk (four more).
Among the most severe measures was the mandatory curfew on weekends between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., however, on Saturday, December 26, due to Christmas, the curfew is imposed only from 23:00, and on Sunday 27, the curfew in the municipalities of the two worst echelons comes into force from 13:00.
The following weekend, January 2 and 3, the curfew at 1:00 p.m. applies to the entire continental territory.
