Restaurants must close at 10:30 p.m. on December 31, on New Year’s Eve, thus closing earlier than announced by the Government 15 days ago.

This is one of the measures announced today by the Government, which decided to limit circulation that night from 11 pm. The half hour break should allow citizens to go to their residence.

Thus, the Council of Ministers decided today “to review the opening hours of restaurants throughout the continental territory, establishing that, on December 31, operation is allowed until 10:30 pm.”

On January 1, 2 and 3, the closure is stipulated at 1:00 p.m., “except for home deliveries.”

The Government today hardened the measures that will come into force on New Year’s Eve, because the number of deaths from Covid-19 remains high.

“Based on the reevaluation of the epidemiological situation in the country, the Council of Ministers updated the list of municipalities at risk, maintained the rules previously defined for the Christmas period and proceeded to increase the measures for the New Year period,” according to the executive statement.

Thus, it was decided “to apply the prohibition of circulating on public roads from 11 pm on December 31 and on 1, 2 and 3 January from 1 pm”.

At the same time, the “prohibition of circulation between municipalities between 00:00 hours on December 31, 2020 and 05:00 hours on January 4, 2021 was maintained, except for health reasons, urgent urgency or other specifically foreseen ”.
