New Year’s Eve celebrations canceled: the new measures announced by the Government

The Government will maintain the measures announced to combat covid-19 at Christmas, but will tighten the restrictions for the New Year.

According to the TVI, The curfew on December 31, New Year’s Eve, will be at 11:00 p.m.

On January 1, 2 and 3 there will be a curfew at 1:00 p.m. The measures will be applied throughout the country, regardless of the degree of risk in each municipality.

Government aggravates measures on New Year’s Eve and following days

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, decreed this Thursday to renew the state of emergency for another 15 days, until January 7, and asked the Portuguese for common sense in the celebration of Christmas.

Also this Thursday, the PS and the PSD demonstrated in Parliament in favor of prolonging the state of emergency to combat covid-19, but they differed in opinion on the restrictions that the Government will impose at Christmas and New Year.
